Genesis and Frank Energy partners with Ecobulb to give away 19,000 LED
light bulbs in Taranaki
Genesis and Frank Energy have teamed up with Ecobulb to distribute 19,000 free
LED light bulbs to eligible customers in Taranaki, helping households switch to
energy-efficient lighting and save on power bills.
Customers will be able to collect up to five free light bulbs at events across the
region, which have the potential to deliver savings of up to $970* per household over
10 years. Across Taranaki, this initiative could collectively save customers up to
$418,000 on their power bills over three years.**
Genesis Chief Retail Officer, Stephen England-Hall says the initiative is part of
Genesis’ commitment to helping New Zealanders make energy-smart choices.
“Lighting is one of the easiest ways to improve energy efficiency in the home, and
switching to LED bulbs can make a real difference, especially in winter months when
power bills increase,” says England-Hall. “Half of New Zealand households are still
using incandescent or halogen light bulbs, even though LEDs use 90% less energy
than traditional incandescent or halogen bulbs. We’re excited to partner with Ecobulb
to make this simple switch accessible to more people.”
LED bulbs last, on average, 50 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs.
With an expected lifespan of approximately 54,000 hours, around 50 years for typical
home usage, LEDs are a long-term solution for reducing household energy costs.
Genesis and Frank Energy customers in Taranaki can collect their free LED bulbs at
the following locations:
New Plymouth: New Plymouth Raceway - La Mer Lounge, 1 Rogan
Street, Welbourn, New Plymouth. Friday 4 and Saturday 5 April. 9am to
5pm both days.
Hāwera: Hāwera Community Centre - Community Hall, 66 Albion
Street, Hāwera. Saturday 5 April. 9am to 5pm one day only.
Stratford: The Salvation Army Stratford, Corner of Juliet and Fenton
Streets, Stratford. Saturday 5 April. 9am to 5pm one day only.
